BRACKNELL FRIENDLY XI CC BEAT EGHAM CC BY 2 RUNS IN NAIL BITER

Bracknell Won the toss and decided to bat.

Emad (14) and Richerd (40) opened the innings. Emad, only recently joining Bracknell CC from West Reading CC, was playing his first match for the club. He started well with a couple of nice drives for 4. However, a mistimed cut shot and was caught at point. The tennis ball bounce of the wicket was going to make timing the ball difficult. Richerd played more cautiously accumulating runs for his 40. Bracknell then lost 5 wickets for 50 runs but a solid innings from Chris White (44) steadied the ship with  the support of the lower order; Bracknell managed to get to 170. This looked about 10-15 runs shy of a par score.

Tea was taken and then Mo Shabir (1-21) and Hitesh Budhia (1-24) opened the bowling. Hitesh had only started to play cricket 2 years ago and has progressed really well with focused coaching and development with Bracknell CC. Hitesh took the first wicket by bowling Egham opener Wright for 1 and then Mo also got a wicket by getting the other opener Moyne caught at point for 6.

Rizwan (1-13) and Shafiq (3-32) bowled really well with off breaks from Shafiq and leg breaks from Rizwan. The runs were also being scored at the required rate with Egham skipper Scudder scoring 70 and keeping his side in the hunt for a victory. One wicket from Rizwan and 3 wickets from Shafiq made the game very interesting. Egham only needing 5 runs to win with 2 overs remaining g and 1 wicket. Karthik (2-22) was handed the ball and with his left arm medium pace bowled the last man to win by 2 runs.

This was hard fought win by Bracknell and showed the tenacity in batting and focus in fielding.
